The answer is yes, we do, but it’s not because we care, it’s because we’re lazy. We’re lazy because we are distracted, and we want to avoid doing anything. It is our own fault for doing the same thing over and over again. We’re lazy, not the other way around. We know we are lazy so we don’t care.
So what if we care? It may be part of some sort of cognitive dissonance, but we want to avoid doing anything. We want to avoid doing something that could cause us pain or fear. We want to avoid doing something that could compromise our safety or ruin our lives. That is, of course, the wrong way to be. This is why we should be doing what we want to do.
We also don’t think that we are the cause of all of this. We are merely the first to get the hint. So this is the kind of thing that could be solved by a change of course. Unfortunately, there is no change of course, because we are still just lazy. We are lazy because we are afraid we will be hurt if we do what we want to do.
This is exactly the wrong attitude. As a designer, I have an obligation to my users to be as diligent as possible to make sure that end user’s expectations are met. Of course we can’t meet them if we don’t try. But it’s hard to be diligent just because we are lazy. So it’s a good thing that we can’t do what we want to do, because then we’ll have to do what we want to do.
Its true that we do our best to do what we want to do, but sometimes we have to take a backseat to the lazy designers who just want to do what they want. Which is why design is a tool, not a right. A good designer can make a great product but if they are lazy and afraid to take the time to make their product, it wont be good.
Some people find it hard to get their business to succeed. Others say that we should have a plan and an organization to do it for them. But there really isn’t anything wrong with that. What we have in our DNA is a great team, and we all need to think about our strengths and weaknesses. Our team is the glue that holds us together.
We do have a plan, but we dont use it. The main reason is that we are good at our jobs and have a good sense of how to accomplish them. If we were more like so many other companies out there, we would probably be spending a bit more time defining and setting up our processes, but that is just not the way we are. We should definitely plan ahead and have a list of things to put in place for us to accomplish before even thinking about our project.
Sure, you can always work on the details of your project and try to build a great team in the process. But that is a lot harder than it sounds. Especially if you dont really know what you want to do. In our case, we spend so much time and energy worrying about what we want to do, that we forget to look at what we want our team to do.
This is not to say that you shouldnt get excited about your project. And yes, you definitely should want to be excited about it. But you need to take a few steps to ensure you are in fact excited about your project and not just thinking about it. The best way is to think about the things you want your team to focus on. For instance, if you want your team to focus on “scaling” your project, you should set aside time for a brainstorm.
If you don’t want to get excited about your project, I recommend sticking to your game plan. If you don’t want to get excited about your project, I recommend you set a time of day and a time of day for things to happen, and then get in a circle with your team and the world around you.
