I just ran into this today for the first time, and I am not happy. I was able to get wlan autoconfig back up and running. The problem is that it only works on my wifi router, and I can’t get it to work on another router. Wlan autoconfig also seems to be extremely hard to figure out.
That’s right, wlan autoconfig is an undocumented, yet very common, feature that, when not configurable, can cause problems in other devices. The only way to fix it is to manually reconfigure wlan, a process that can take a long time.
I know this because I was the one that was talking about it. It is very frustrating to think that somebody else would be able to do what I did, or, if it’s not something to do, it’s really hard for me to figure out how to make it work and how to tell it not to do what I did.
The solution is to manually configure wlan, and this is absolutely not something that is easy to do by yourself. If you are like me, I do most of the configuring by trial-and-error. It is possible, though, that you could ask someone who has done this before to walk you through it. I have done it myself and it seems to be very doable.
The only way to make wlan autoconfig work is to change it for your specific wireless device, but since you are using a specific device, you can do it through the “Wireless Network Configuration” option. If you don’t already know how to do it, it is best to find out before attempting to do it on your own.
wlan autoconfig will work for most wireless networks. If you are not sure how to get it to work, it is possible to use your wireless device’s driver to force it to work. This will only work for the default wlan device for the network.
wlan autoconfig will cause an error 0x0 message to be displayed on the screen. This error is a sign that your wireless device has been configured incorrectly. An easy way to fix this error is to set the correct wlan device name. If you know the name of the correct wlan device, then it is always possible to use the command wlan set name to change this.
