I’m a big fan of the new Windows 10 Anniversary Update which includes new security features. One of them is having to do with Windows Explorer and its security tools. One of the things that needs to change is Windows Explorer’s security settings.
I like Windows Explorer, but the way it’s built out of the Unity 3D and other things is frustrating.
The new Windows Explorer has some issues, but this one is the one that needs the most attention. Windows Explorer stores passwords in plain text files which are stored on your computer, often in plain text files. This makes it really easy for people to open up Explorer and type a password in, type it back, and then click “Save As” to put the whole thing back in Explorer.
This is very bad news for Explorer users who have been storing their passwords in plain text. It also makes it easy for hackers and other nefarious characters to steal your password. This is why you should use a tool like Encrypting File System (EFS) to securely store your passwords. EFS encrypts the plain text files used by Windows Explorer and makes them inaccessible to hackers.
Explorer is a big part of what makes Windows work. It’s the way Windows works, and it’s still the most popular PC application on the Windows platform. So for most people, it’s one of the most important parts of their Windows experience. It’s also the last thing you want to lose.
