The quickbooks fatal error is an error caused by the incorrect encoding of a value.
You can find a list of all the correct values for each field in the table at the end of this file.
It’s one of those issues that can be tricky to trace from the database to the application layer, so it’s worth understanding the problem. The easiest way to fix a fatal error is to just change the value for that field in the table. However, if you don’t, then the value that it stores can eventually change, and the application layer can crash.
So if you have a fatal error, you should fix the value that its stored in. If you can’t, then the application layer can crash.
The fatal error that Quickbooks creates when you change a field value is called a “mismatch”. Typically when the database needs to update a cell it will first read the field from disk and save it as a new cell. If the field has changed then the database will recreate the cell, and then write the value to the new cell.
And if the field has changed then the database will recreate the cell.
A mismatch occurs when the database has a value that is different to the field that it is storing. A mismatch occurs when the field is a date-only field. This is a very common error that can cause the entire database to crash.
It is very common that a cell will have a date-only field. A date-only field is stored as a fixed-length string. If one of these field values is stored as a date, then the other field values need to be updated as well. However, if the fields are only text, then simply writing the text fields will resolve the problem.
If you see an error like this, it’s possible the field that is causing the error is of type text. The fix is simple. Simply add the appropriate values to the date-only field in the field settings.
The fix is also easy if the field is of type text. Simply type the first two characters of each field value in the text version of the field settings.
